Calvary Christian Academy (CCA) has existed since 1979. Pastor Isamo Welles first recognized the vision of a Christian day school when his eldest son was attending Ohmine Elementary School. His son was repeating profanities that he had heard at school. Pastor Welles’ vision for a godly atmosphere where all children could be educated stemmed from his desire for his own children. Being fully persuaded that God would have him start a Christian School, he wrote several friends in the United States and was introduced to A Beka Book—supplier of Christian school material and curriculums. Using personal funds with the help of Calvary Baptist Church, he ordered the first set of elementary books and curriculum. CCA began its first year as a “one-room school” with Pastor Welles’ wife, Esther Welles, as the teacher and his son Gordon, and four church member’s children as the first student body. When it embarked on the road to Christian education, CCA has added a grade to its existing Kindergarten five through third grade. In 1989, the first graduating class commenced at Calvary Baptist Church. CCA has and continues to experience growth within the past three decades. CCA is chartered as a non-public school by the government of the Federated States of Micronesia.
Since, 1979, CCA has enrolled students from all backgrounds with the primary goal of evangelizing its student body. “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52). Jesus Christ is the model to which we conform all students.
CCA has as its richest resources the grace of God and dedicated teachers and staff who have accepted God’s call and challenge to educate children in the Bible as well as the academic disciplines.
Our philosophy of education is rooted in the belief that all truth is God’s truth, and that students thrive when their education integrates biblical principles with academic excellence.
Mission: To glorify God by providing a Christ-centered education that equips students to impact the world for Christ.
Vision: To be recognized as a leading Christian school in our region, producing graduates who are servant-leaders in their communities and beyond.
The students of Calvary Christian Academy are taught the Biblical concept of the true nature of man using the method of teaching modeled in the Bible. We strive to give each student the opportunity to increase in wisdom, in character, and in knowledge.
First, students are taught the unchangeable Biblical values that give an anchor and a purpose in life. All subjects are taught in agreement with the Bible which is our final authority. Students study the Bible as part of the regular curriculum. In order to most benefit the student, each child is encouraged to attend church regularly.
Through the Word of God, right and wrong can be clearly defined, and definite direction can be given. Students at Calvary Christian Academy are taught where they come from, why they are here, and where they are going. God's Word teaches us that man was created in the image of God. By disobedience, man fell from innocence and brought upon himself a sinful nature and was separated from God. Therefore, the first priority of Christian education is to bring each student into a right relationship with God through a relationship with Jesus Christ. We all need God and His help.
Second, children at Calvary Christian Academy are also taught to be lifelong learners, valuable family members, helpful neighbors, and effective citizens. Students are taught to have proper respect for authority and are expected to be responsible and accountable for their actions. They are encouraged to be cooperative and dependable. Our teachers model and teach the virtues of honesty, integrity, sincerity, and respect. Also, students are educated to appreciate and understand the history of our government while being encouraged to become patriotic citizens. We are doing our best to educate the future leaders of our great country.
Third, students are encouraged to excel academically. We use A Beka Christian School Curriculum and Bob Jones University Press in our classrooms. These Christian publishers are recognized as the standard of excellence in Christian textbooks and scholastic materials. Their approach to education keeps learning lively, interesting, and memorable. The materials reflect sensible theory that is firmly anchored to practicality. Their publications are built upon a firm foundation of absolute truth and sound scholarship and are written by dedicated and talented scholars well grounded in the practical aspects of classroom teaching.
We would love to have you come join the Calvary Christian Academy family!
